Is 60 MB Enough?

Yes. GPS watches do not use data like smartphones. They use small amounts of data for location updates, app messages, alerts, occasional photos, and settings changes.

Average use

Most users are typically around 20 MB per month.

Heavier use

Families who exchange daily messages and send a few photos per week are usually around 30 to 40 MB per month.

80% alert

You will receive an automated alert if your SIM reaches 80% of its monthly data allowance. If that happens, contact us and we’ll help review the usage.

To avoid unnecessary data use: please do not use mobile data for app downloads, wireless software updates, video apps, or streaming apps. For updates and app downloads, connect the watch to Wi-Fi first.

What Uses Data, Voice, and SMS?

Data is used for

  • Location updates
  • App chat
  • Recorded voice messages through the app
  • Geofence and app alerts
  • Settings changes
  • Occasional photos

Voice minutes are used for

  • Regular phone calls from the watch
  • Regular phone calls to the watch
  • SOS calls from the watch
  • Auto-answer calling, if supported by the device
  • Remote Monitoring / listening feature, if supported by the device

If you do not need these phone-call features, choose Data Only.

SMS messages are used for

  • Low-battery alerts
  • SOS-related alerts
  • System messages
  • Some setup or diagnostic functions

Most everyday communication is done through the Lil Tracker app chat feature.

Important Plan Notes

Which network do Lil Tracker SIM plans use?

Our Canadian SIM plans run on the Rogers network, which provides strong coverage across most of Canada. As with any mobile service, coverage can vary by exact location.

Can I use this SIM with another GPS watch?

Our SIM cards are designed for Lil Tracker GPS devices and many similar unlocked 4G GPS watches. Compatibility with non-Lil Tracker devices can vary, so if you are using another brand, please confirm that your device is unlocked and supports compatible Canadian 4G/LTE service before ordering.

Can I use this SIM in a regular phone?

No. Lil Tracker SIM cards are intended for compatible GPS watches, smartwatches, GPS trackers, and safety devices only. They are not intended for regular mobile phones, tablets, hotspots, routers, or other high-data devices.

When does the plan begin?

The plan begins when the SIM is activated. If we install the SIM before shipping, the plan may begin before shipment because the SIM must be activated and configured in the watch. If you are buying early for a birthday, holiday, or gift, add a note at checkout with your preferred activation date and we’ll do our best to schedule activation closer to that date.

Do I need SIM installation?

Most customers do not need SIM installation. Your SIM card will arrive with setup instructions, and installation only takes a few minutes. Optional SIM installation is available if you would prefer us to install and test the SIM before shipping.

Are overages or roaming included?

Plans are Canada-wide and do not include international roaming unless roaming is added separately. Data, SMS, or voice use above the included monthly allowance may result in additional charges. To help prevent unexpected charges, we may temporarily pause or deactivate a SIM card if usage appears unusually high, if roaming charges are being incurred, or if the SIM card is used in an unsupported device.
